Since the very beginning of the human race , one of the things which homo sapiens dread to the core is the one I was hit by a few days ago . It all started with my journey back to the college and the misfortune which occurred later in the morning could be blamed to the sleepless night I spent in the train .

When we landed arrived in Ghaziabad , it was too early in the morning by this city’s standards . Though Ghaziabad is claimed to be one of the 10 most developing cities of Asia , still you have to struggle for transport early the morning and rickshawaalas will charge you as high as they wish , and you could simply not protest . All you can do is surrender and empty your pockets . And that is what we were forced to do to reach the hostel .

My haunted room was so eagerly waiting for its master to return . I am still looking for any signs of paranormal activity in my room . I don’t know what I was thinking or what was wrong with the atmosphere , but as soon as I settled myself , instead of taking a nap I decided to try out this new baby of Microsoft , Windows 7 and there went the installation disk in the cd drive . Everything was on the right track . But with every single minute that ticked by , I was pushed deeper and deeper into that world of oblivion which refused my company few hours back . 20 minutes later , when “Expanding Files” still refused to go even a single notch over 0% , I gave up my arms and surrendered to the land of dreams that was pulling me .

4 hours later , the alarm clock suddenly woke me up . Struggling against my better conscience , which instructed me to go back to sleep , I managed to sit straight . As I gazed across the room trying to locate in which planet I was really in , I came face to face with the blank screen of my laptop . What really happened with this machine ? On stressing upon my memory , I remembered that under the hypnotizing power which took control over me , I switched the power off while the installation was under progress . Straight away the danger of what could have happened as the aftermath struck my mind .

With my fingers crossed , I switched it on . “ Please Please Please … This can not happen . “ But that very thing did happen . BootMgr missing . The system was unable to boot from either the hard disk or the cd drive . “C’mon Harsh . This is just a bad dream . Go back to sleep . It will be all fine when you wake up. “ I tried to follow my inner voice but sleep was very very far away from me now .  “Harsh . Pinch yourself . You will be right away .” But to no avail .

What to do now ??? One thing that always works no matter what has happened is that this thing “Ubuntu” never disappoints me . It loaded all right and the installation was not a big deal either . I sighed a sigh of relief . Maybe everything was not lost . A formatted hard disk was least I could afford . I mean , you don’t gather 250GB of data every other day . Sound of drums sounded so pleasing right there . Well everything was not that pleasing a few seconds later . Neither of the partitions except the ubuntu ext2 partition was showing up . I won’t go into further technical details now . I tried everything from head to toe , took my little kid to everyone I thought could be helpful , but all my efforts went to vain .

One of the most basics things which even a noob is aware of is “Always take a backup of all your important data “. My habit of procrastinating things did paid off . I tried each and every single thing but still was unable to recover my data . And here I am now , with brand new Windows 7 installed into my system and three brand new partitions with minimal of data . Its a reconstruction phase I am going through right now . All those projects , all my designs , all my scripts , all my snaps , all the passwords stored in firefox  …. RIP ….  :(      ….. 250GB … really a long long way to go . Wish me luck .

Twilight vs Harry Potter …. J.K.Rowling vs Stephenie Meyer …. The debate is never ending and the topic is mostly confined to “Whether Twilight is as good as Harry Potter and not less “. I spent most part of my Diwali holidays completing the Twilight series . The Twilight followed by The New Moon , The Eclipse , The Breaking Dawn and the leaked draft of The Midnight Sun .

And after doing so , I can safely participate in the debate now and can very confidently conclude that Stephenie Meyer is not as good , infact not anywhere even close to J.K.Rowling . There are only three categories of people , who I suppose will disagree with me .

First , those who are a die hard fan of Romance will surely stand against Potter . Twilight is a lot more about romance and relationships rather than Vampires or Werewolves .

Secondly , those who have read “Twilight” and not “Harry Potter” will of course go with Meyer .

Third category include people ( and there are a lot of them ) who think Harry Potter is just for  kids .

The Potter series was completely in another league compared to Twilight . J.K.Rowling created a completely brand new world of magic , at each and every point one finds himself more and more intrigued to the plot . The way she used the mythological creatures , sketched the plot so efficiently , came up with a mind blowing magical game named Quidditch was just something Meyer was unable to even reach close to .

Twilight posed no competition to Harry Potter . How could someone even compare these two books . There was not even a single point in Potter series that I found myself bored and wished to take a break , but there were many stretches in Meyer’s book which left me droozing and wishing it to end as soon as possible ( especially when Bella and Edward spent pages just being in awe of each other ) .

I am not suggesting that Twilight is not worth reading . Its a fantastic series but not comparable to Harry Potter or Lord of The Rings .

Why is Rowling better than Meyer ????

  • Twilight will appeal only to a certain section of society , others will find it very difficult to digest . Meyer hasn’t put in even a small percentage of imagination than what Rowling has put in . Although there are vampires and werewolves lurking around , there is nothing magical about it , its all just a romantic love story .
  • Rowling has obviously put in a lot of hard work in creating the plot . Meyer had a fantastic idea , but somehow everything not sounded so fantastic on paper ( atleast not to me ) .
  • Climax was what disappointed me a lot . Maybe it was difficult since the story is narrated from the point of view of Bella , but the climax could not have been more simple and less interesting . For instance , Edward going to Volturi in “New Moon” and coming out untouched without any twists and turns . Maybe thats the way love stories are meant to .
  • Bella kept on narrating the unnatural angel like beauty of Edward for chapters and chapters and chapters . Sometimes I felt like skimming through the chapters .
  • Twilight was way too predictable . The characters were not that strong . The characters of Edward Cullen and Jacob Black were good , but not excellent . Maybe everything was written in a bit of hurry .

Well no offense meant to Twilight fans . The series was good but not phenomenal like I heard it to be . Its so much overrated ( just like Ricky Ponting is :P )

My Final Verdict : Wizards win . Vampires lose .

blue-movie20111

I never knew this diwali would’nt start with a celebration … rather it would start with a mental trauma of 2 hours …… 14 Oct was the day i landed in my city and after a complete day of rest n sleep 15 Oct was the day when i recieved that call from my friend Vivek which i regret recieving…the devil on the other side of the phone asked me to book tickets for the I day matinee show of the Blue film…oops….film Blue….that’s better

As i had a few contacts….courtesy my uncle…..i arranged 6 tickets of the matinee show but then i made a dreadful decision:yes yes i decided to accompany them and have my share of 2 hour torcher….god !!!! what got into me ???

As far as the storyline of this movie is cocerned…the story revolves around a ship that carried the treasure that the britishers decided to return to India, after India’s independence,as a symbol of goodwill..But as this ship was in the middle of its journey the captain of the ship intentionally drowns the ship to get the entire treasure and to establish a perfect example of forgery but ultimately fails and why would’nt he when the director of the movie wants so….

Now the story moves to the world of today….Aarav Malhotra(Akshay Kumar) is a super rich businessmen and Saagar(Sanjay Dutt) is his employee cum friend.Mona(Lara Dutta) is  Saagar’s girlfriend….amazingly….because she always looked like Sanjay’s daughter in the film…..beware sanju baba … your age has started having its toll on you …..

Saagar has a good for nothing brother named Sameer cum Sam(Zayed Khan) who knows how to drive bikes fast and how to start thinking about the family planning after the I meeting with a girl…Nikki(Katrina Kaif) is one more character of the movie, incorporated without any purpose, who Sam falls in love with…

Aarav always tries to convince Saagar to go for the treasure hunt as he knows the ocean better then the fishes…at least that’s what the movie says…but for some emotional reason Saagar keeps turning down his offer with anger. In the meanwhile Sam fails to complete an assignment of a guy called Gulshan(Rahul Dev) who asks him to return 50 million $ for the bag that Sam lost & failed to deliver,as if it contained the crown of queen Elizabeth, failing which Sam would be killed and would loose Katrina which according to me is a bigger loss than life for a guy like Zayed

As expected from Zayed,he runs back to his brother Sameer fearing to be killed but Gulshan somehow follws him to Bahamas and poses a threat to his life there also…which i think is a noble work as he was trying to save us from many more flop films by killing Zayed…but Akki does’nt want to see us happy as he saves Zayed and comes to know about the 50 million $ story.

Now Aarav n Sam both together try to convince Saagar for the treasure hunt. This is the point where the audience comes to know the reason of Saagar’s refusal, the death of his father on the same ship during an under water opeartion where he was also accompanying his father but at last they(all three) decide to go for the treasure hunt and finally succeed to find the treasure but then the curtains are raised from a thundering and unpredictable suspense…ok enough of the crap….the suspense of the movie is not even worth mentioning….when it is revealed the first thing you have to say is:I always knew that !!!!!!

Why to go for this movie:

1.Kylie Minogue…man she is splendid in the song “chiggy wiggy” which is the USP of this film….I also wanna chiggy wiggy with you baby !!!!!

2.Some really cool underwater scenes….that really seem pleasant to the eye….

3.Sanjay’s amazing dance in the song “chiggy wiggy”…… sanju baba seems to be posing a threat to hrithik…..beware duggu !!!!!

4.If you have a lot of money and don’t know how to waste it..

5.If you believe that you are mentally tough and can withstand any mental torcher…..

Why not to go for this movie:

1.If you hold any expectation of seeing a decent movie don’t opt for this one…

2.Go and buy crackers for that money…they would produce a better impact than this movie…

2.You have so many options available afterall…KFC is one of them….
