I was pushed out of my dreams , courtesy to Bryan Adams singing at top of his voice . The clock said “11:15″ , very early in the morning by my standards . Really irked by the incident , I picked up the call .

Sanchit : Hello

Me : Wrong Number

Sanchit : Oh sorry!! I was looking for Bill Gates .

Me : Don’t waste my time . Tell what you called for !!

Sanchit : Just be ready in the evening . Durga Puja is calling us .

Me : Are you nuts ??? Its India vs Pakistan today . I don’t get to watch cricket at hostel . I have been waiting for this match since a week . Will not miss it at any cost .

The clock said “3:00″ . I was just off after taking my breakfast ( Don’t faint at my spectacular timing ) . Just then my mother called me . Apparantly I was supposed to go to the nearby temple and complete few rituals which she promised to the all Almighty if I passed Xth and XIIth with mind blowing score . I was quick to raise my objection at this point .

Me : I am busy today .

Mother : Oh I forgot . You have a meeting with Obama today . Isn’t it ??

Me : Why can’t this ritual wait for one more day .

Mother : Why can’t Mr. M.S.Dhoni wait for few hours . Anyways , I am sure he won’t mind if you miss a few overs .

As usual , I ended up on the loosing side in this argument .

Luckily for me , Pakistan were to bat first . Meaning by , I won’t miss India’s batting . Yayyy!!! The ritual was done with in about half an hour . I regret to say that while I was physically present in the temple , mentally I was roaming in Centurion .

The clock struck “12:00″ . The match had turned into a see-saw . Chasing a not so modest 303, India lost Tendulkar at the outset , followed by few more blows . But with Raina and Dravid going strong , accompanied by the free hits that Pakistanis showered over us , signs were looking ominous for us .

Go India Go . Go Raina Go . Go Dravid Go . That was all I was muttering . I was not in a condition to afford going even an inch over the mutter . Even a decibel of increase in my voice would have resulted in few angry and sleepy faces pouncing over me .

Just then , my heartbeat came to a halt . Raina was dismissed , and with him were India’s hopes . I kept waiting and waiting , hoping against all hope that India could sneak in somehow , from somewhere . But eventually , we lost . I was virtually broken apart at that point .

I am really obsessed with this game , as most of the Indians are . Cricket is a religion here , its our true love .  And when it comes to India vs Pakistan , there are a billion people connected with the game , apart from 22 in the field . I waited for this game for so long . I was all prepared to celebrate India’s victory . I was ready to surprise my neighbors with the premature Diwali celebrations , late at night . But it was not to be . India’s loss sent me into depression . And it was not until a few hours back , that I came out of it , looking forward to tomorrow’s game against the Kangaroos . The crackers might come to use tomorrow . Lets see what future has in store for Men in Blue .

Welcome to the group, my dear!!

My husband drives me nuts with his Cricket fanaticism. This saturday, he ended up calling all his friends over for the India-Pak match and in anticipation, refused to even step out of the house!!

I ended up making dinner big enough to feed a baraat!! :D DD

Kno nothing abt crckt.. all I hear is a few yells at my bay at work.. when I am working seriously on some queues. lol

The best part is .. my Manager .. though at times he sends stinkers, all of a sudden he stops, and when I wonder why he did so and look at him.. he’d be busy watching cricket momentarily forgotten to sting us!!

well we care for other games too … but cricket is kept in entirely different gallery …. we grow up watching this game …. and in every second house , a boy picks up the bat dreaming to become next Sachin Tendulkar …. It is no more a sports in India … it has taken up a form of religion !!!!

Ah ! one match i would like to remember for both gud n bad reasons , one match in which my hero dravid scored a pretty gud 77 but had no supporters, and in the end bhajjis ridiculous calls lead him to his dismissal :( and the next day the match against aussies cancelled due to rain too :P but its the same here passion for cricket alive everytime, and for me too during this packing time for coll, mom constantly shouts at me to stop watching dravid or she will shoot him :P i am glad actually tht i could watch all the tests and watch dravid score some superb tons before heading off to coll :P but long way for india now :) lets see how it goes

Sachin missed the century … That would have been a bit of the takeaway from the array of disappointments … But wasn’t to be … :(
