Second sessionals are going on . Having not appeared for the first sessionals , its really important for me to score good marks in DBMS this time around . But here I am . Instead of struggling with SQL , I am spending my time here , chatting , blogging , and blah-blah-ing at twitter .

You know what I used to be two years back in intermediate ??? I was like , say , even if there was an exam next week , its time to spend some a lot of  time with the books ????  No television , no time pass , no nothing … and excuse me , what is Internet ?? A classic example of a study bug … a mugger . Had it not been the desk rotation policy in classes , I guess I would have been a first bencher all the way . And guess what … I secured 100% attendance in High School and was also awarded “Most Disciplined Student” ( Disciplined ??? ahemm ahemm…).  Elected as a captain twice in a row ,  92.8% in Xth , 94% in XIIth , my teachers still set my case as an example for the juniors .

And now , two years from then , I have totally turned into a study repellant creature . What has got into me ?? Is this the transition from school to college ?? Can’ be . I still find the existence of a number of muggers here. They study , study , study , study and study ( just like I used to do ) . And when I tag them “book worms” I realize that two years back , someone would have tagged me with the same title too . Is that the reason ( the fear of being mocked at ) that has transformed a mugger ?? Or is this caused due to the lack of parent’s supervision in hostel ?? God only Knows !!!

Now as exams approach , everyone seems to be reminding me a few things again and again …..

• Semesters are approaching . Start studying now . ( As if studying would delay the semesters )

• Books are supposed to be your best friend ( I thought Dog was my best friend ) .

• Don’t construct any destructive plans of cheating in theory exams ( cheats are only to be used in practicals ) .

• Put a halt to your online activities for some time . No one will hack your account during your absence . ( Me and my hackophobia )

• No Counter Strike . No NFS . No AOE for few days . ( That’s just a game . You don’t need to escape a hot pursuit . Neither are the terrorists planting a bomb under your nose )

• Facebook is your enemy . Twitter is monstrous . Orkut is banned anyway .

• Stop posting nonsense on your blog for few days . There is no need to reveal your insanity to the whole world .

Objective : to convince whole class to bunk a lecture you are not interested to attend

Requirements :  A class with a majority of good for nothing dormant elements , a CR (class representative) who is always ready to get banged , a dumb lecturer , a new release in theatre , few active back benchers.

Theory :

Mass Bunk :

“ The tactical use of the CR ( to convince the fellow muggers ) to achieve your goal of escaping the mental torture that could occur otherwise . This activity is highly appreciated by majority of students and is highly loathed by the faculty and the studious lot . Occasional bunks go unnoticed , but few of them in quick succession will surely get the HOD interested .“

CR :

“The person who is often used by the batchmates as a escape goat when HOD enters the scene . Whatever wrong happens in the jungle, either this person is supposed to have an explanation for that , or else he is a goner . Usually a mugger , one to have a sympathy with “

Back Benchers :

“The masterminds of the jungle , who most often initiate the spark and force the CR to set the jungle on fire . Least interested in study , most of them have a short attendance , the most important component in the bunks ( yet , are never highlighted ) . Usually work in groups and communicate via. code language .”

Result : “A happy bunch of kids going back to do something useful , some to the canteen , others to their respective hostel rooms (all the muggers) and occasionally a few of them head to the HOD to launch a complaint against the anti social elements (carnivores of the jungle) .”

Precautions :

• Always have a check on how the front row (usually the girls) reacts when the topic is first brought into their notice .
• Be quick to take your action . If the lecturer appears in the scene , be quick to come back to your position as if you were upto nothing .
• Always have a control over the CR . An angry CR might lead to 100% classes , which in turn cant get you detained due to short attendance .
• Play safe . Bunk classes and enjoy life .

Call it my luck …. Or call it my precise selective study…..I managed to tame my sessional exams pretty easily……leaving apart just one paper of Networks , everything went according to the plan…..The Diwali celebrations late at night prior to the last sessional , followed by a clash between two groups of students and invasion of the HOD into the boy’s hostel , didn’t prove to be any hindrance ……

Festival of lights , Deepavali is just around the corner …… Its festive time …… holidays are on …… everyone is back home to celebrate the festival ……. No studies for a few days now …..

Going by the dictionary…..

quirk : a peculiarity of action, behavior, or personality; mannerism

I have a phobia that everyone on this planet has got a keylogger installed on his system …… and as soon as I will log into my account through his sytem my account will be hacked …….. this habit of mine force me to use all types of techniques to remain safe (like keying in first two letters of my password and then write something random in search bar , so as to be at the safer side ) ……. Most of the time I end up typing in the wrong password and thus , killing a lot of time ….. ?

Whenever I encounter a cuckoo singing on the treetops , I can’t help but to imitate the voice ….. just repeat the same “kuhoo kuhoo” a couple of times and see how energetically the bird replies with few more of those melodious calls , hoping to find a new friend ….. a friend who can’t be found at the tree tops , most certainly…..

I don’t know how and when It happened …… but I have developed an addiction to the back bench and love being called a “back bencher “ …….. Even if the whole class is empty , I will always shoot for one of the chairs in the last row …… In the worst case scenario , when I can’t find a seat in the last row , I will prefer to walk out of the class instead of being a part of those muger front benchers …..

Last year in my hostel , ironically , lights of the bathroom of my lobby used to go nuts within one or two days of repair …… At that time , I developed a peculiar habit for enjoyment ….. I used to hide in the dark and pounce on any victim who used to enter the red alert area …… Most of them , unaware of the attack , used to shriek on getting the surprise …… I still remember , once the trick flipped back on me …… One of those inhabitant of my lobby got so frightened of the attack , that he lodged a full fledged attack on me as an action of self defence …… I did received a few healthy blows on my head …..

Of late I have let go of one of the superstitions that I used to follow before appearing in any exam ….. I don’t remember Exactly what they were …… But there was a different task to be done for every day of the week ….. for instance , on Monday , I used to look at my image in mirror beforing departing for the exam centre ….. on Tuesday , I used to lick curd , or anything sweet ……. On Wednesday , I was supposed to drop a coin in a tumbler kept at the entrance of my home…… I don’t exactly remember the ceremony on other days of the week …… my mother was my guide , as most of the Indian moms are …..

Whenever I am travelling alone in train , I always have to face a battle with sleep ……. I always have a fear that the train will get past my destination while I am lost in my dreams …… Even though I set alarm to my rescue , I can’t help but to check the time at regular intervals and asking the co-pessengers which station train has just crossed
